Brief History

San Diego Academy of Ballet and Ballet Theatre opens it's door on September 29th of 2001. Since then, SDAB has provided the San Diego area with both quality ballet instruction and professional quality ballet productions. SDAB’s production of The Nutcracker is a San Diego favorite with beautiful costumes, lavish sets and guest artists who join the talented students of SDAB to perform at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. In 2007 and 2008, SDAB successfully performed a full-length production of a classical favorite, Don Quixote. In addition, each year concludes with a performance, which in the past has included excerpts from Paquita, Raymonda, Les Sylphides, La Bayadere, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty. This end of the year performance is not only an opportunity for dancers to showcase their talents in ballet, but also it is an opportunity for them to showcase their talents in other dance forms including Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary Ballet, Musical Theatre and Tap. SDAB continues its commitment to providing excellence to San Diego ballet students and ballet audiences.
